Domain Validation

Understanding the domain validation process and what to expect.

Validation Process

Domain validation confirms you own the domain you're connecting. This prevents unauthorized domain connections.

How It Works

  1. Urumi provides unique DNS records to add
  2. You add these records at your domain registrar
  3. Urumi checks for the records automatically
  4. Once found, ownership is verified
  5. You proceed to final activation

Validation Status

The Domains page shows real-time validation status:

StatusMeaning
PendingWaiting for DNS records to be detected
ValidatedRecords found, ownership confirmed
FailedValidation failed (see troubleshooting)

What's Being Checked

During validation, Urumi checks:

  • Record exists - The DNS record is present
  • Correct value - The record value matches exactly
  • Propagation - The record is visible globally

Validation Timing

ScenarioExpected Time
Fast registrar5-15 minutes
Standard15-30 minutes
Slow propagation1-4 hours
Maximum24 hours
Don't Worry

It's normal for validation to take some time. The process continues even if you navigate away.

Automatic Detection

You don't need to manually refresh or check status:

  • Urumi polls for validation automatically
  • The page updates when status changes
  • You'll see the next step once validation completes

Multiple Records

Some domains require multiple validation records. Each record shows its own status:

  • All records must be added
  • Each validates independently
  • All must be validated before proceeding

Re-entering the Process

If you navigate away during validation:

  1. Return to Settings > Domains
  2. You'll see the current validation status
  3. Continue where you left off

Your validation progress is preserved.
