Connected Apps

Connected apps let your store plug other services into Urumi's MCP, such as HubSpot, Klaviyo, or any MCP server you run yourself. Once a store admin approves a tool, everyone on the store's team can use it from their AI tool through the same Urumi connection.

Connected apps are available when enabled for your store.

Where to Find It

Navigate to Settings > Integrations and scroll to Connected MCPs.

Connect an App

Under Add a connection, either:

  • Pick a listed app - Click it and sign in with your account at that app
  • Add a custom server - Enter the server's URL and choose how it signs in:
Sign-in methodWhen to use it
OAuthYou sign in at the provider. Recommended when the server supports it.
API keyThe server needs a fixed key sent in a request header
No authenticationOnly for public servers that need no credentials

Before you sign in, Urumi shows a consent screen. It lists the provider, the access being requested, and who will be able to use it.

Review and Approve Tools

A new connection starts as Needs approval. Nothing is available to your team until its tools are approved.

  1. Click Review tools
  2. Read the list. Tools that can change data are flagged, and some are marked Destructive
  3. Select the tools your team should use. Read-only only selects just the tools that cannot change anything
  4. Click Approve. The button shows how many tools you selected

You can approve no tools at all. The connection is then saved but serves nothing until you approve some.

Approve only what you need

Approved tools act on the other service with your store's stored credential. Start with read-only tools and add more when someone needs them.

When an App Changes Its Tools

Apps can add or change tools at any time. When that happens, the connection shows a tools changed — review notice. The changed or new tools stay hidden from your team until someone approves them again. Click Review changes to see them.

Using Connected Apps in Live Insights Tiles

When enabled for your store, an Insights tile can show data from a connected app.

  • A tool can feed a tile when the app marks it read-only, or when a store admin turns on Treat as read-only (for tiles) for it on the tool review screen. Tools the app marks as destructive can never feed a tile, and the admin switch is not offered for them. The switch only appears when Live Insights is on for the store, and it resets if the app changes the tool.
  • The tool must be approved for your store.
  • Connected app tiles refresh at most every 15 minutes.
  • If the app cannot be reached, the tile keeps showing its last good data. If it has none yet, it shows a short message instead.
  • If connected apps are turned off for the store, or the tool is no longer approved, the tile shows a message and no data.

Disconnecting

Click Disconnect on the connection. Urumi deletes its copy of the credential. Some providers also need you to remove access on their side; the dashboard tells you when.
